SHAINA MILLER

Shaina is a relatively new member of our Muncie League and is gung-ho about the work of the League. She is from Evansville andwhen she was eligible, she registeredto vote in Evansville at a League voter registration event!She attends Ball State Universtiy asa Political Science Major on a Pre-Law track with a minor in Sustainability.

Shaina was selected as a Democracy Fellow (https://sites.bsu.edu/civics/390-2/) for the CREATE Project on campus (https://sites.bsu.edu/civics/create/), funded by the US Dept. of Education and a member of the Civics Coalition organized by the Bar Foundation. LWVIN is also a member of the Civics Coalition.

She is also a 2024 500 Festival Princess.The 2024 500 Festival Princesses represented 18 Indiana colleges and universities and 23 cities and towns across the state. With a cumulative GPA of 3.74, this class was selected from hundreds of applicants based on communication skills, academic performance, community involvement, commitment to service, and leadership.She helped me with voter registration at an event on campus last night and thought her tiara might attract some students who might otherwise walk by.She's a quick study and already thinking about ways to get the League out there for young people! I thought she'd be a good antidote to photos of all of us older folks.

During some of the most contentious and violent times of Ireland’s struggle for independence, Eva Gore-Booth remained passionately committed to pacifism—though not passivity. She rejected her aristocratic heritage to advocate for the poor and working class. Alongside her partner Esther Roper, she challenged war, voting rights, nationalism, and gender itself.
